What are the Ten Gods?

The Ten Gods is an important concept in Bazi metaphysics used to analyze the generating and overcoming relationships among the Five Elements. It takes the Day Master as the center and determines the relationship based on the other seven characters' generating or overcoming relationship with the Day Master.

Detailed Ten Gods

• Bi Zhu (比肩): Peer - Same element as Day Master, Yang-Yang or Yin-Yin. Represents brothers, friends, competitors.
• Jie Cai (劫财): Rob Wealth - Same element as Day Master, Yang-Yin or Yin-Yan. Represents financial loss, competition, antagonists.
• Shi Shen (食神): Food God - Element generated by Day Master. Represents talent, expression, children, good food.
• Shang Guan (伤官): Hurting Officer - Element generated by Day Master, opposite Yin-Yang. Represents innovation, talent, rebellion, legal disputes.
• Zheng Cai (正财): Direct Wealth - Element overcome by Day Master, Yang-Yang or Yin-Yin. Represents legitimate income, wife, property.
• Pian Cai (偏财): Indirect Wealth - Element overcome by Day Master, Yang-Yin or Yin-Yang. Represents windfall income, father.
• Zheng Guan (正官): Direct Officer - Element overcoming Day Master, Yang-Yin or Yin-Yang. Represents career, reputation, law, superiors.
• Qi Sha (七杀): Seven Kill - Element overcoming Day Master, Yang-Yang or Yin-Yin. Represents pressure, authority, disaster, military.
• Zheng Yin (正印): Direct Print - Element generating Day Master, Yang-Yin or Yin-Yang. Represents studies, mother, certificates, power.
• Pian Yin (偏印): Indirect Print - Element generating Day Master, Yang-Yang or Yin-Yin. Represents stepmother, metaphysics, solitude, creativity.
