Calculation Methodology

This Qi Men Dun Jia tool supports the mainstream chart-setting methods:

  1. 1Setting method: both Zhi-Run (leap) and Chai-Bu (removal-patch) are supported, with solar-term-based ju (scenario) and end-of-term handling.
  2. 2Yin-Yang Dun: after the winter solstice charts run forward (Yang Dun) through the nine palaces; after the summer solstice they run in reverse (Yin Dun).
  3. 3Three Wonders and Six Instruments: Bing, Ding, Yi with Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, Gui are arranged per the Dun Jia rules.
  4. 4Nine stars, eight doors, eight spirits: the nine stars, the eight doors (Xiu, Sheng, Shang, Du, Jing, Si, Jing, Kai) and the eight spirits are placed accordingly.
  5. 5Zhi Fu / Zhi Shi: derived from the Xun leader; both rotating-plate (Zhuan Pan) and flying-plate (Fei Pan) arrangements are available.
