Classical Text Citations
Attributed to the Qing scholar "Wild Crane Elder", famous for its practice-verified approach to hexagram casting, useful-spirit selection and interpretation. It is the most practical classic of Liu Yao (Najia divination) and the blueprint of our interpretation logic.
Compiled by Wang Hongxu of the Qing dynasty, it systematically sets out the theory of Najia divination; our Shi-Ying placement and Six Relatives/Six Spirits arrangement follow it.
Calculation Methodology
This Liu Yao tool follows the standard Najia divination procedures:
- 1Najia casting: each of the 64 hexagrams is outfitted with stems/branches per the eight-palace order.
- 2Shi-Ying placement: the self (Shi) and responding (Ying) lines are located by the palace of the hexagram.
- 3Six Relatives & Six Spirits: Parents, Siblings, Children, Wealth, Officer lines, plus the six spirits (Qing Long, Zhu Que, Gou Chen, Teng She, Bai Hu, Xuan Wu) arranged by the day stem.
- 4Useful spirit: for wealth questions take the Wealth line, for office the Officer line, for marriage both Officer and Wealth lines, for parents the Parent line, etc.
- 5Day/Month strength and moving lines: line strength from the month/day, moving-line progression/retreat, six-clash, six-harmony, tomb, and void states complete the judgment.
